Recovered stories, travels and musings, dusted off and revived with modern context

About

I’ve always loved history. And Exploring. I inadvertently merged the two as a hobby while living in Central New York. I’d find a yellowed travel periodical or post card in an antique store and wonder what the places displayed or written about looked like “today”. Road trip!

Since moving to New Hampshire in 2023, I’ve discovered a renewed passion for revisiting past journeys, if only to see if anything is still there. Living in New England gives me easy access to all of New England – so much history. Mind you, I’m from the UK and lived half my life there, but I’m no snob about how old history needs to be for it to be cool. After all, I’m just an amateur.

I’m using this blog to share my experiences, from the time I stumble on a new article or image to how I explore sharing it in a new way. I view it somewhat like being a Metal Detectorist. I search, find a thing, rescue it from the moths, and clean it up for others to enjoy. I also love the road trip aspect; visiting a town written about in the 19th century, for instance. Looking at the very same object mentioned in those old pieces is still a thrill.

This is for fun, so I’ll get around to a newsletter eventually. In the meantime, feel free to DM me at the Rambles Revived Facebook thing if you have any thoughts or interests in this area.

Take care!
